THE rise and fall of Batley Variety Club is the subject of this ITV documentary. The programme charts the eight-year golden age of the outlandishly glamorous entertainment hotspot run by the late James Corrigan and his wife Betty, when from 1967 it attracted big names to the Yorkshire textile town, including Shirley Bassey, Tommy Cooper, Louis Armstrong and Morcambe and Wise.
