WS POV SHAKY Police chasing car / Ashtabula County, Ohio, USA<br /><br />The son of a high-ranking Lake County deputy sheriff was seriously injured after leading Willoughby Hills police on a chase that ended in Ashtabula County.,Robert Crosier, 32, was taken by helicopter to Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights after the car he was driving rolled over in the median of Interstate 90 near Ohio 534 in Harpersfield Township. Crosier's father is Chief Deputy William Crosier.,The chase began on I-90 near Ohio 91 after Willoughby Hills police received a call shortly before 9 a.m. about two men taking mail out of mailboxes on Chardon Road. According to a statement from Willoughby Hills police, a police officer had stopped the car and was walking toward it when the driver sped off, nearly hitting the officer.,During the chase, the driver swerved his car at a Willoughby Hills police car waiting to join the pursuit near Ohio 306, the statement said. The chase continued into Ashtabula County at speeds between 80 and 100 mph.,A State Highway Patrol trooper was waiting near Ohio 534 to stop the fleeing vehicle with a "stop stick" - a flexible, metal strip with spikes that deflates a car's tires. Lt. James Sivak of the Saybrook post of the Highway Patrol said Crosier swerved around the stop stick and then lost control of the car, which flipped three times in the median.,The eastbound lanes of I-90 were closed for 40 minutes.,A Hillcrest Hospital spokeswoman would not release information about Crosier's condition yesterday at his family's request. A passenger in his car, Thomas L. Barnes, 23, of Cleveland, was treated at Hillcrest.,
