In a scathing report MPs have condemned the multiple inquiries into the "Trojan Horse " affair in Birmingham for creating a sense of crisis and confusion. No evidence of extremism or radicalisation was ever found. MPs say competing investigations - often leaked in advance - led to a "worrying and wasteful" lack of collaboration. The alarm was first raised in March 2014 by an anonymous letter which claimed there was a hardline plot by radical muslims to take over the running of some schools. MPs say now is the time for confidence in the system to be restored.
