location: Port Renfrew, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada
Sequence of 6K 24fps aerial rushes shot of the remote town of Port Renfrew on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. Port Renfrew is a small coastal community located on the southwest coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, at the mouth of the San Juan River where it meets the Pacific Ocean. The area lies within the traditional territory of the Pacheedaht First Nation, whose name means “People of the Sea Foam,” a reference to the surf that defines the region’s rugged shoreline. Historically, the community developed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries as a logging and fishing hub, serving as a base for timber operations in the surrounding rainforests and as a gateway to offshore salmon and halibut fisheries. Today, Port Renfrew is known as the western terminus of the Pacific Marine Circle Route and the starting (or ending) point of the Juan de Fuca Marine Trail, attracting visitors for its wild coastal scenery, ancient forests, and proximity to natural landmarks such as Botanical Beach and Avatar Grove.
