Due to torrential rain the ceiling of an airport partially collapses in northeastern India's Assam. The incident took place at the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati on March 31. Visuals showed the ceiling suddenly collapsing. The water started flowing inside raising chaos at the airport. People present started to run around in panic. In another visual, water is seen pouring from the ceiling of the airport. The cafe's as well as other locations inside the airport were seen inundated. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident. As a consequence of a severe storm, airport operations were suspended, leading to the diversion of six flights to alternate destinations. Chief Airport Officer (CAO) Utpal Baruah stated, "The storm caused the uprooting of a large tree at the Oil India complex outside the Adani Group-controlled facility, obstructing a road." Utpal Baruah reported that a single large tree was uprooted, obstructing a road connecting to the airport. However, prompt action was taken to clear the road, ensuring uninterrupted fuel supply to the terminal.
