Ship Crashes Into Iceberg in Antarctica | Iceberg Partially Collapses
ID: LIS-01-0129
Format: SD
Location: Antarctica
Description

Reckless maneuver causing collision: An Antarctic expedition cruise ship crashes into a large iceberg in the Antarctic Sea, causing the collapse of big pieces of the iceberg and a notable wave. Although the ship's powerful collision with the ice giant looks like a great fun for the spectators, the dangerous manoeuvre could have ended very badly. Not only the impact, or the large pieces of ice breaking off the iceberg, could have punched a hole in the bottom of the ship, but it is also not unusual that icebergs like this have an even more remarkable size under the surface of the water (up to 10x the height you see). When big pieces of ice break off glaciers or icebergs, it can happen that an iceberg begins to flip, which could have capsized and sunk the ship easily.
