As part of the extraction of Indigo, the naturally occurring blue dye found across the world in Indigo plants, the leaves are left in pots under weight to ferment for a couple of days. the liquid is then strained through muslin and the blue colored water and sediment is then aerated by hand using a technique of lifting handmade woven baskets to add air to the mixture.
