2K Footage of the Indigo dye making process from a farm in Northern India. This material documents the process of extracting the natural dye blue pigment and how it is used to dye textiles. The whole farming method is organic and the process is done by hand. The indigo plant is harvested, the plant leaves are then fermented under weights, the liquid then strained off, boiled down, the paste is then dried in muslin cloths and finally the paste is put into wooden forms to dry in the sun and finally an indigo cake is made ready to be used in a dye vat.
