Leopard unleashes brutal attack on forest department officials as they attempt to rescue in northern India

In a rare occurrence, a leopard wreaked havoc and launched a brutal attack on the officials of the forest department who had come to rescue it, in northern India's Uttarakhand. This incident happened in Haldwani on February 10. Visuals showed the leopard running about on a field as the forest department officials attempted to capture it. The wild animal quickly was in the bushes and wasn't visible as the officers cordoned off the area. The big cat, in a matter of seconds, jumped out of the bushes and pounced on an official who was bit on his hand. The leopard subsequently went back to the bushes before emerging again and jumping on another official, who was floored by this attack. It then went on to chase few more officials as well as locals. According to a report, the leopard's presence in the residential area was detected by a pet dog named Rocky who barked and alerted the people. The leopard was hiding in the verandah of a house and the owner was shocked to know about this. The big cat subsequently was chased by the pet dog and the forest department was informed. After it attacked the officials, the forest department was able to tranquilize the animal through a veterinary doctor and the leopard was subsequently released into the wild as well.
