American actor Danny DeVito discusses his up and coming London theatre production Sunshine Boys and how he likes to do different projects in order to mix things up. DeVito talks about all time classic One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest 1975 starring Jack Nicholson and directed by Milos Forman launching his career. He then goes on to talk about Pulp Fiction 1994 and his role of executive producer, saying the film was turned down by one studio but was thankfully picked up by Harvey Weinstein. DeVito discusses wanting to make movies from scratch, despite the additional complications and stress and also his desire to be the 'go between' for young up and coming film makers and the studios. DeVito then talks about creating Jersey Films and having several successful movies made including Out of Sight 1998, Matilda 1996 and Erin Brockovich 2000. Hoffa 1992 was a movie he directed, produced and starred in alongside his friend Jack Nicholson. The next projects discussed are Twins 1988 and Junior 1994, Devito talks about working with Arnold Schwarzenegger and enjoying collaborating despite their polar opposite political views. DeVito recalls how he met Michael Douglas and them sharing an apartment together in the 60's when they were both cool hippies with long hair and how this led to him being cast in Cuckoo's Nest. He goes into more detail about Jack Nicholson, how they were both born in the same hospital in New Jersey, offering his opinion of Nicholson as 'a very sentimental and wonderful guy'. Next DeVito discusses his animation film Dr Seuss' The Lorax, adding that he's a big fan of the books because of his children. DeVito talks about his recent experience directing a low budget indie movie and how this has given him both the inspiration and aspiration to one day own a studio, one that makes really good movies on a sensible budget.
