Samuel L. Jackson discusses his childhood growing up in Tennessee, America. His family expected him to get a good education and become a doctor or a lawyer. His Aunt was a performing arts teacher and got him to perform in many plays. Jackson discusses then going to college and falling in love with the theatre and acting. He met his wife who was also an actress and they moved to New York to pursue their acting careers. They both did a lot of street theatre, children's theatre and got parts in various plays during this time Jackson discusses getting into drugs. He then got a part on Broadway. The Piano Lesson by August Wilson. He was demoted to being an understudy when an actor came back from filming which then exacerbated his drug problem that then led to rehab where he got clean. This he discusses was a turning point for his career. Following several film roles Quentin Tarantino gets in touch about his new film Pulp Fiction and said he wrote a character called Jules for Jackson. He is given the script and asked to read for the part. Meanwhile an actor called Laurence Fishburne reads for the part and impresses the producers forcing Jackson to have to audition for the part. Jackson discusses not only did he give an excellent performance but changed the ending of the film. Jackson discusses how he never takes things for granted since that experience, always works hard on his characters and scenes. Jackson then discusses Die Hard with A Vengeance with Bruce Willis. Bruce told him it would change his life as it would be the biggest movie in the world and it was, making him very successful. Jackson then discusses the film A Time to Kill based on a book written by John Grisham, directed by Joel Schumacher. He got a major scene stolen from him by Matthew McConaughey, the studio wanted McConaughey to be a star He loves the film though and enjoys its popularity.
