Actress Gemma Arterton discusses her film Byzantium 2012 a horror/thriller directed by Neil Jordan in which she plays a Vampire mother, Saoirse Ronan plays her daughter. Arterton goes on to talk about how she has enjoyed playing a mother for the first time and her admiration for Jordan, whose work she had studied as a student. She describes being swept up in the world of Hollywood, in order to balance this she came home to do what she loves most, perform on stage. The Disappearance of Alice Creed 2009 is the next film discussed. This low budget crime thriller is something Arterton is very proud of - a leap of faith with a first time director, which led to a very fulfilling experience. Tamara Drew 2010 directed by Stephen Frears, Arterton talks about working with the legendary director and her amazing fellow cast, who she 'loved observing and learning from'. Following this is Gemma Bovery 2014 Arterton says she learnt to speak French for the role, and talks about liking the character who manages to wreak havoc everywhere she goes. Arterton goes on to say that through speaking French in this film, she has received French scripts but doesn't feel fluent enough to branch out into European cinema just yet.
