Timothy Spall discusses his film Mr Turner 2014 directed by Mike Leigh. Spall talks of his previous knowledge about Turner before learning how to paint, in particular how to correctly and convincingly hold a paint brush. He talks in detail about the process of working with Mike Leigh, the in depth character research and extensive improvisation. Life is Sweet 1990 his character Aubrey, everybody liked the film apart from the critics. Spall discusses playing Winston Churchill in the film The Kings Speech 2010, getting the voice right, Churchill had a speech impediment but went on to become a great orator. Still Crazy 1998 is the next film discussed, a group of older guys chasing a dream, playing in a band and going on tour. Secrets and Lies 1996 people were very effected by the film, it showed three different human stories within one family. The Last Samurai 2003 Spall discusses Hollywood and it taking him 25 years to get there, as he waited to be asked rather than pursuing it. Vanilla Sky 2001 Spall talks more about the Hollywood machine. The Last Samurai is dicussed again, Spall had to learn a long speech in Japanese, it look him 6 weeks and drove his wife mad. Harry Potter (clip of Goblet of Fire) 2005. Spall discusses what amazing fun it was and how his small but recurring part is the most internationally famous of his career. Spall then discusses his voice-over work in Chicken Run 2000 and also Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland where he voices the character Bayard the Bloodhound, he has also voiced the sequel Alice Through the Looking Glass. Spall wraps things up by talking about entertainment being a very board church, which requires different skills for different areas but that the end product and its message must always be clear to the audience.
