He is particularly fond of Martin Scorsese, who he feels was heavily influenced by European cinema in the Seventies. Following this is A Prophet 2009 a critically acclaimed drama set in a French prison. Audiard talks about how 70% of inmates are Arabic. He wanted to make a film that depicts a young muslim delinquent struggling in prison and follows his journey after being released. The next project discussed is a Western, starring an American actress but shot in Europe, 'the American landscape is much too predictable, Europe is more interesting.' The Beat my Heart Skipped 2005, a clip is shown here. When asked if he thinks film making has changed - he suggests that it has, but is unsure if it's for the better or worse at this stage.
