American actor Jesse Eisenberg talks about his film Night Moves 2013 directed by Kelly Reichardt. A slow burning thriller about eco-activists attacking a hydro-electric dam set in Oregon. Eisenberg describes his character as complicated. The film explores the consequences of his actions and his political responsibility. The Double 2013 directed by Richard Ayoade, Eisenberg played dual roles, doppelgängers, both characters existing in the same world as two opposing sides of the same person - one popular and successful, the other a social outcast and a failure. Eisenberg then reflects on how lucky he felt landing this role and working with the British 'genius' Ayoade. The Social Network 2010 in which he played Facebook creator and tycoon Mark Zuckerberg comes next, he was Oscar Nominated for his performance. Eisenberg isn't a fan of social media but approached the project without bias, wanting to concentrate on his character. The Oscar buzz forced him to re-focus on what is really important to him, saying he's just as happy writing and performing in small plays that get little attention. The Squid and the Whale 2005 a comedy, Eisenberg only feels comfortable working on comedies that are grounded in some kind of emotional reality. He doesn't like things that are too dramatic or too comedic and likes to find projects that are somewhere in between. Eisenberg mentions his own mother was a clown whilst he was growing up. The next film discussed is Adventureland 2009 and how it's much harder to act when the character is similar to himself, as he questions everything a lot more. He always strives to find the authenticities, but admits it's 'harder to put on that mask'. Rio 2011 an animation where Eisenberg voices a Macaw bird called Blu, here he remembers 'a really wonderful experience' during which he had the freedom to improv and make jokes a long the way, he credits the director Carols Saldanha as being phenomenal and the project being incredible fun and energetic. To Rome With Love 2010 directed by Woody Allen, Eisenberg talks about what it was like working with the legendary director, speaking his dialogue and taking his notes, and trying extremely hard to not do an 'impression of him'. Now You See Me 2013 is about street magicians pulling a bank heist, also starring Woody Harrelson. Eisenberg talks in detail about their 'unlikely' friendship and chemistry. A clip of Zombieland 2009 is shown here - another movie they collaborated on. His acting heroes are musical theatre actors he grew watching, performers unknown to most. Although Eisenberg loves musical theatre, he definitely can't see himself performing in one due to his terrible dancing skills.
