Danish actor Pilou Asbaek discusses his film War 2015 a story of a Danish commander in Afghanistan. He wanted to show a humanised version of a soldier who he considers to be 'de-humanised' in society and the media. The film takes you on a journey from a war-zone to a court room and also looks at life back home from his wife's perspective. Asbaek spent 3 months at bootcamp learning how to be a solider, it was very important for him to be as authentic as possible. He talks of his collaboration with fellow Danish director Tobias Lindholm, they met on the prison film R: Hit first, Hit Hardest 2010, they initially didn't get on, they had a lot of 'raw energy' between them that eventually turned into a solid friendship. Borgen 2010-13 he enjoyed playing the complex character of Kasper Juul, a charming man with a dark past. The Bourgias 2011-13 Asbaek admits to feeling like an expensive extra on set as all he did was to sit on a horse, 3 miles away from the camera and get paid. Game of Thrones 2011-19 a massive job but one he couldn't talk a lot about due to the production strict privacy rules. The Highjacking 2012 Asbaek reflects on the consequences of finding an identity and where Denmark stands in the world. Asbaek discusses the flourishing Danish film scene and the increasing popularity of the Scandi-Noir genre, he feels incredibly proud to be a part of it. Ben Hur 2016 he spent 5 months living in Rome and enjoying the huge Hollywood production. He talks about his character Pontius Pilate, an infamous villain and his admiration for the director of the film Timur Bekmambetov. Lucy 2014 starring Scarlett Johansson a small role but that has led to another film with Johansson titled Ghost in a Shell 2017, Asbaek describes her as 'very sweet and very talented'.
